Tips to Protect Your Credit Card From Fraud

1) Sign on the signature strip as soon as your card is delivered.

2) Keep a record of your account numbers, their expiry dates and the phone number and address of each bank to report loss without delay.

3) By law, once you reported the loss or theft, you have no further responsibility for unautorised charges.

4) Carry credit cards separately in zippered compartment, business card holder or pouch.

5) Keep an eye on your card during the transaction

6) Void incorrect receipts

7) Destroy carbon copies

8) Save receipts to compare with billing statements

9) Open bills promptly and reconcile accounts monthly

10) Report questionable charges immediately and in writing

11) Notify concerned card banks in advance of a change in address

12) Memorise or securely record the card verification value (CVV) code.... the last three digits of the number written on the rear side of your credit card (VISA or MASTER CARD) and scratch it illegible. No net transaction can be carried out without this code.

Don't Make These Mistakes

a) Disclose your account number over the phone to any one.

b) Leave you card or receipts lying around

c) Write your account number on a post card or on the envelope

d) Lend out your cards
