Disable “Send Error Report” (Vista)

Digg this

The steps for disabling the error reporting feature in Windows Vista is a bit different from Windows XP. And there’s a new applet in the Control Panel for adjusting how Windows Vista reports errors.

By the way, you may want to use the Classic View for the Control Panel(choose from the left pane). The default view groups the control panel applets into categories. The Classic View lists all applets within one level/folder. I personally prefer to see all applets within one folder — you can try it out and see which way works for you.

Now, back to our topic. To stop Windows Vista from sending error reports to Microsoft:

Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > Problem Reports and Solutions.
Click Change settings, in the left pane.
Click Advance Settings.
Select the Off radio button, under the “For my programs, problem reporting is:” section.
Click OK.
In the Problem Reports and Solutions dialog box, you can also choose to disable problem reporting for certain programs only and allow other programs to report errors. But problem reporting(Step 4 above) must be turned on.
