SIS File is basically a Symbian OS Installer File which is used to install any application on your mobile phone. They generally have the extension .sis or .sisx and can be installed on any mobile phone that runs on the Symbian operating system.
Their function is analogous to the operation of Win 32 executable (.exe) in Windows Operating System.
Usually when a Symbian application is made, a request is sent to SymbianSigned.com to authenticate and verify the application before it is publicly distributed. However in cases where the application remains Unsigned, it has then to be signed manually to your mobile IMEI in order to make it work or else your mobile will fail to install the application triggering a Certificate Error Warning.
This tutorial originally taught by Symbianv3 that will teach you How to Sign .sis files. It is important to know how to sign .sis files because many of the upcoming great applications like IR Remote, NokMote, RotateMe etc are being distributed unsigned over the Internet.
